Doctor for a Day with Dalhousie Medicine NB
We’re excited to offer Doctor for a Day this year in partnership with Dalhousie Medicine NB and Under One Sky Friendship Centre! This hands-on experience is open to Urban Indigenous high school students who are curious about health, medicine, or becoming a doctor. Participants will spend the day at the Dalhousie Medicine NB campus, learning directly from resident doctors through presentations and interactive activities. It’s a fun, engaging way to explore careers in health care!

Over the course of 10 weeks, students will learn some basics of the Mi'kmaq language in a culturally safe environment with the goal of being able to communicate more effectively with the Mi'kmaq community. Through listening, speaking, and storytelling, this class is designed to create a safe space to learn the language both from Brigitta and from fellow students. We all have so much knowledge to share and this is encouraged for this class. Level 3 builds on the lessons learned in Level 1 and Level 2 and expands on knowledge for basic conversation.

Nurturing Roots Freezer Meal Initiative
The Nurturing Roots Freezer Meal Initiative is designed to support families of children living with disabilities by providing nutritious, ready-to-prepare meals. The program promotes health, stability, and quality family time by reducing the daily burden of meal preparation. By offering nutritious, pre-portioned freezer meals and engaging caregivers in hands-on learning, the initiative fosters life skills, improves family well-being, and enhances caregivers’ ability to focus on the individualized needs of their children.

The Tree Tapping Community Event (March 14–15, 2026) is a two-day, all-ages, hands-on outdoor learning experience focused on the traditional and contemporary practice of maple sap harvesting. On Day 1 (Saturday, March 14), participants will engage in a guided tree identification walk, a full tapping demonstration, and a supervised hands-on tapping activity. On Day 2 (Sunday, March 15), participants are invited to return to observe and collect overnight sap after enjoying pancake breakfast, witness an sap reduction demonstration, concluding with a maple syrup tasting across multiple grades. Reflect on the full cycle from tap to table. The event is free and open to all. Appropriate outdoor clothing is required; a full dress plan will be provided upon registration.

Maliseet Trail Adventure
Join us for a morning on the land! Students in Grades 9–12 and their families are invited to explore the Maliseet Trail together — hiking through the forest, sharing stories, and connecting with the natural world around us. We'll warm up with hot chocolate and roast spider dogs over an open fire before heading home. A packed lunch, warm layers, and an adventurous spirit are all you need.

Odell Youth Adventure
Spend your March Break outside! Youth in Grades 5–9 are invited to join us for a morning adventure at Odell Park. We'll hike the trails together, explore the winter forest, and gather back at the Take It Outside Basecamp to roast spider dogs and warm up with hot chocolate and granola bars. Bus departs from Under One Sky at 10:00 AM and returns by 1:00 PM. Come curious, dress warm, and bring a water bottle!
