Jen Rowett

I was born in Woodstock, New Brunswick and have lived as a guest in beautiful Wolastoqey territory along Wolastoq (our beautiful and bountiful river) most of my life. I am a Licensed Counselling Therapist and a Canadian Certified Counsellor. Since 1999, I have been walking alongside individuals on their unique paths of wholistic well-being and growth with the purpose of providing inspiration, guidance, and empowerment. My natural and therapeutic lens is grounded in approaches that consider the wholeness of you – mentally, emotionally, physically, spiritually, and also the further reaching parts of you that extend into the various communities that you are part of such as your friends, family, school, workplaces, and the larger communities in which you live and are naturally affected by. I have been working alongside and learning from Indigenous Elders, colleagues, and peoples for many years, and I am a service provider for Non-Insured Health Benefits (NIHB). Currently, I am meeting with clients through e-counselling methods such as video and telephone, and in-person.

Nancy Harn

Indigenous Counselling Services | Flexible scheduling | In-person and virtual counselling

Kwe’ my name is Nancy Harn and I am a Mi’kmaq woman from Ugpi’ganjig or Eel River Bar First Nation. I am a Certified Canadian Counsellor and a professional member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. I have been providing Indigenous counselling services through my position as the coordinator of the Ntulsonawt Wellness Centre at the Mi’kmaq-Wolastoqey Centre as well as the Under One Sky Friendship Centre.

The holistic counselling approach that I follow is client-centered. I truly believe that life is a journey and we, as Indigenous individuals, are the experts in our own experiences. As an Indigenous woman, I believe there is a unique understanding of what finding balance means in our own personal identity as well as navigating the balance between Indigenous and non-Indigenous worlds and world views.

I subscribe in Elder Albert Marshall’s guiding principle of Etuapmumk or Two-Eyed seeing. In Elder Albert Marshall’s words: “Two-Eyed seeing is learning to see from one eye with the strengths of Indigenous knowledge and ways of knowing, and from the other eye with the strengths of Western (and/or scientific) knowledge and ways of knowing while learning to use both of these eyes together for the benefit of all.”

I believe that we are ever-changing and are never done learning. We all have the ability to follow our own path and nothing we chose to do in life has to be done to a predetermined timeline. I also believe it is healing to be heard and understood because this is when my healing began
